Former Super Eagles coach Chief  Adegboye Onigbinde and former Super  Eagles assistant coach Joe Erico believe it is too early to assess the Samson Siasia-tutored team, following their slim 2-1 win over Sierra Leone last Wednesday at the Teslim Balogun stadium.

The Modakeke high chief, who spoke to Sunday Vanguard Sports said even though he did  not watch the match he believes there is  still a lot of work to be done on the team.  He advised the coach to  focus  on the fitness of  the players.

“It is a team with a  new beginning and a new era, one can not pass judgment or rate the team based on the friendly they just had,” he said, as he questioned the players’ fitness level.

“To what extent are the players in terms of fitness. As a coach, my advice to Siasia is to make sure the players are all round fit to face their opponents, since we cannot impose anything on him,” Onigbinde said.

For Erico, a proper assessment of the team can only be done in subsequent matches, as he hailed them  for what he considered an impressive performance against the Sierra Leoneans.

“Honestly speaking it was a game well played, and I am delighted. The team is just new but there is a brighter future for the team as they play on,” Erico enthused.
