THE wife of Mr. Hope Adeleke, the policeman who recently lost his six children to kerosene explosion, which occurred at Oghara, Delta State, has died as a result of the injuries she sustained from the explosion.

Mrs. Edna Adeleke died on Monday at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, where she had been receiving treatment for burns injury following the explosion for about two weeks.

It will be recalled that Mrs.Adeleke and her six children last month were rushed to the UBTH in February, following the kerosene explosion which occurred at her residence while trying to lit an already lighted lantern on that fateful day.

Doctors at the hospital described their injuries as over 85 percent degree burns.

Four of her children,  who were earlier rushed to the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara died shortly after they were admitted for medical attention.

However, two other children, who were referred with their mother to UBTH died later leaving their mother who has finally succumb to death last Monday.

With her death, her husband, Mr.  Adeleke, a Police Corporal serving in Warri is now left without a family having lost his entire family members of seven to the kerosene explosion.  Beside the death of Adeleke family members, two other persons, a woman and a 12-year-old girl had lost their lives to kerosene incidents.

43 incidents of kerosene explosion resulting in deaths in some cases, have also been reported in Rivers State, raising fears that further cases of explosion might be recorded in other parts of the country, following scarcity of kerosene, which had forced unscrupulous dealers on the commodity to adulterate the product.
