THE Ijaws of Egbema and Gbaramatu in Warri area of Delta State, weekend, threatened to drag the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to court to seek redress over the non-extension of the exercise in the three Warri local government areas of the state.
Chairman of the Egbema/Gbaramatu Central Development Council, Mr. Edmund Doyah-Tiemo, said the group would also petition INEC before the United Nations and other relevant bodies in its quest fo get justice for the perceived injustice against the people of Warri.
Doyah-Tiemo, who addressed newsmen in Warri, lamented the refusal of INEC to allow the people of the Warri areas have the same number of 21 days allowed other parts of the country to register, said the action amounted to injustice and segregation even within the country.
It will be recalled that the INEC registration of eligible voters was delayed for about one week in the three Warri local government areas of Delta State.
