Waku ignorant of democratic rules – Presidency

By DANIEL IDONOR

THE Presidency, yesterday, dismissed the claim by former Senator Kennedy Waku that President Goodluck Jonathan manipulated the presidential primary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to secure the ticket, saying he is simply ignorant of democratic rules.

According to the Presidency, for Waku to question the widely-acclaimed credible process that produced Jonathan and Vice-President Namadi Sambo as the flag- bearers of PDP for April’s presidential election, his long exit from the Senate may have distanced him also from democratic process hence would not appreciate a transparent process when he sees one.

A highly-placed Presidency source, reacting to Waku’s view, said: “for a man who once calls for military intervention during the Obasanjo administration to call to question the process of the  PDP presidential primary that has been hailed by all as transparent is not surprising because he is yet to imbibe democratic principles.”
