Lagos State Government has donated medical equipment, including phototherapy machine, incubator and four water dispenser machine, worth millions of naira to the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association, Mynoung Zone, Yaba,  for the use of the neonatal ward of the Military Hospital, Yaba, Lagos.

This is coming  Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has approved the release of N500 million soft loans to 100 youths, who participated in the Agricultural Youth Empowerment Scheme (Agric-YES) aimed at boosting food production in the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, who made the medical donation, explained that the donation will go a long way in providing adequate medical care to children in the military hospital.

Represented by his Permanent Secretary, Dr. Femi Olugbile, Idris noted that children are the future of the society, hence any responsible government should focus attention on their healthcare.

Idris commended members of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association for the noble course they had charted for themselves by focusing on the improvement of health facilities in the hospital for  use by members of the public.

Earlier, Area Representative of the association, Mrs. Theresa Ajemba, commended the state government for the donation, noting that the equipment will be judiciously used for the children.

She stated that the Military Hospital, Yaba has a catchment area of Yaba, Surulere, Ebute Metta, Pedro up to Festac Town with a demography of about five million people, hence the need for the association to seek partnership in order to execute the Association’s onerous task of helping in the reduction of child mortality in the state.
