LAGOS—THE Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation, yesterday, protested what it alleged to be bias in the composition of membership of the National Convention Committee that is to organise the presidential primaries.

Deputy Director General of the Atiku Campaign, Bashir Ibrahim, who was nominated a member of the NCC told Vanguard that he would resign his membership of the Committee on the basis of what he alleged to be his strong partisan affiliation to Atiku’s candidacy.

He said that the Atiku Campaign was equally demanding the resignation of all those with passionate inclination for the Jonathan campaign from the NCC.

Among the NCC officials the Atiku campaign want out of the NCC are Governors Adebayo Alao-Akala, Godswill Akpabio, Sule Lamido and Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN.

The National Convention of the PDP which is expected to produce the party’s candidate for this year’s presidential poll is scheduled to kick off on Thursday.

But three days to the convention, elements in the Atiku Campaign are peeved that ground rules for the convention have not been made known to them.

Ibrahim who called for the removal of the governors and Senator Ndoma-Egba, said: “These are people who have clearly shown partisan support for the President and it is most inauspicious for them to be members of the committee.

The committee is supposed to be composed of non biased members and because of that I am rejecting my own membership of the NCC.”

He described his membership of the NCC as mere tokenism.

Besides, Vanguard further learnt that the Atiku campaign is disquieted by the silence of the party on the ground rules for the convention.

Ibrahim noted: “It is regrettable that as at this hour (yesterday) nobody has told us or briefed us on what are the ground rules, our letters to the national party to invite us and the other candidates for briefing have not even been acknowledged.”

The NCC is headed by a former Minister, Dr. Shettima Mustafa and includes Governors Godswill Akpabio, Adebayo Alao-Akala, Danjuma Goje, Babangida Aliyu, Theodore Orji and Sule Lamido.

Others are Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senator Suleiman Adoke, Senator Anthony Manzo, Hon. Patty Etete, Hon. Nnenna Ukeje, Hon. Ajibade Babalade, Hon. Hembe, Hon. Jerry Manwe and Hon. Sada Sohi Jibia.

Other members of the NCC are former Governor of Bauchi State, Ahmadu Adamu Muazu; Dr. Ombo Isokariari, Chief Bola Olu_Ojo, Chief Dan Orbih, Chief Mrs. Uzo Nwandu, Yusuf Ayitogo, Bashir Ibrahim, Mrs. Laiyatu Danladi, Chief Godwin Bozimo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Shuaib Oyedokun, Engr. Abdulkadir Kure , Hajia Zainab Maina, Alhaji Aminu Wali, (Mrs.) Stella Effa_Attoe, Hauwa Musa Kida. Chief Ojo Maduekwe is expected to serve as Secretary.
