Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has said that his presidential ambition was hinged on positively rescuing the Nigerian nation from mal-administration and economic stagnation.

Alhaji Abubakar barred his mind when he paid a courtesy call on the Chairman of South East Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, in his palace at Obinugwu, Orlu local council area of Imo State.

The former Vice President assured Ndigbo that if elected, he would integrate them into the mainstream of Nigerian politics, adding that he was aware of the injustices suffered by Igbo in the Nigerian project.

Responding, Eze Ilomuanya charged Nigerian politicians to conduct themselves in a fashion that will guarantee credible, free and fair elections this year, pointing out that “this is achievable if the political class abides by the rules of the game.”

Ilomuanya, who doubles as the Chairman of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, said: “The 2011 elections should not be seen as a do or die affair. It should rather be taken as a brotherly contest where the loser genuinely congratulates the winner.”

The monarch promised that royal fathers will continue to pray for good leaders to emerge, adding that the present peace and unity in the country should not be compromised for any reason whatsoever.
