Jos—Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria, YOWICAN, Plateau State chapter, has called on the Federal Government to rise to the security challenges posed by the recent bomb blasts in the state and put an end to the terror attacks.
The association said the Federal Government which controls the security agencies in the country should act fast because of the possibility of more attacks in view of the statement credited to the group which claimed responsibility for the blasts.
A statement jointly signed by the Acting Chairman, Bistu Johnson, and Secretary Joshua Ringsum, lamented the bomb blasts which it said, “introduces a worrisome and condemnable dimension to the aggression on Christians in Plateau State.”
‘Sultan’s comments diversionary’
It described the comments of the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Mohammad Sa’ad Abubakar blaming the blasts on the failure of leadership as diversionary.
The group said: “We note this attitude and remarks of the Sultan with dismay and an attempt to divert attention from the main issue. It is simply a ploy to shield the terrorists who have openly claimed responsibility for the attacks and absolve them of blame.”
YOWICAN appealed to Christians in the state, especially the youth, to remain calm and prayerful as the security agencies intensify effort to unmask and prosecute those behind the bomb attacks.
It commiserated with the families of those killed in the bomb blasts and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
