Delta re-run: Those clamouring for shift are not ready, says Uduaghan’s camp

By Austin Ogwuda
MEMBERS of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Governorship Re-run Campaign Committee said that the clamour by the opposition parties for INEC to shift the January 6, re-run date clearly showed that they  are  not ready for the exercise.

A statement by Director, Media/ Publicity, Delta PDP Governorship Re-run Campaign Committee, Dr.  Festus Goziem Okubor, while describing the outcry for a shift in date as nonsensical said: “we condemn in the strongest terms these careless and self-serving discharges from the opposition.

“We are not surprised at their puerile arguments, which are only a cover to buy time in the face of the stark reality of their unpopularity and obvious weakness to match a stronger PDP at the elections.” It added: “we call on INEC to stand firm and refuse to be blackmailed, but go ahead with determination to hold the re-run on January 6, 2011, as scheduled.

“We insist that rather than resort to sophism the opposition parties should brave the situation by preparing like good contestants with claims to popularity, to test their strength at the re-run date. We denounce the resort to clever, flawed, and misleading arguments that are intended to deceive. It only shows how unprepared, and unserious these media-based politicians and their parties are”, he added.
