#ElectionDay: Banky W commends community members for good conduct

Popular actor and musician, Mr Bankole Wellington, a.k.a Banky W, has commended members of the Lekki Phase 1 community in Lagos State for good conduct at the Governorship  and State House of Assembly elections on March 9.

Wellington, who contested for the House of Representatives on the platform of Modern Democratic Party, made the commendation
in an interview with newsmen on Saturday in Lagos.

He spoke while he cast his vote at his Polling Unit (PU) 016, Ward O, Lekki 1, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos. Lagos State
Model Nursery and Primary School, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

He said “the work that we have done as members of the community has helped, because we got our canopies, chairs and got people seated.

“It is a lot more orderly and so, everything is smoother; everything has gone well today and we thank the community for their leadership role.”

He urged other communities to cultivate the habit of organising themselves whenever the need arose and not wait for government to put things in place.

According to him, there will be progress and growth when people come together, organise themselves and ensure things work out.

“The idea is for people to begin to think outside the box and make sure things work for the good of the country as a whole.

“It all begins with the right attitude of members of the community; as a community, we can contribute to the growth and development of the country,” Wellington added.

Also, Mr Adebola Williams, a well-known entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Red for Africa, a consultancy company,
urged youths to be involved in the affairs of the country.

Williams also cast his votes at PU 016, Ward O, Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

He said that the failure of young people to activate their roles as citizens was a major contributory factor to the underdevelopment of the county.

He added that “as young people in Nigeria, we have to realise that our individual successes can contribute to the development of the nation.

“We will need to do more collectively and must come together and make sacrifices, join parties at the local government levels and make our contributions.

“Young people should educate themselves; people are having conversations on governance, leadership and the future; join them.

“We need to get it right, not just by being in the process, you need to enlighten people; it is your responsibility.

“The way you want to succeed with your life, you have to take your nation’s success the same way,” he said.
