The saying that a good name is better than riches shows that there is need for one to be upright in everything, ones level of wealth notwithstanding.

The case of Nigeria’s FIFA executive committee member Amos Adamu is an example for everyone and a vivid picture of the above quote having sold his name for money after several years of service, representing the country internationally.

Many Nigerians believe he has tarnished the  image of the country while for others the situation  reflects the internal dynamics in the country. Former NFA chairman Kojo Williams  shared same view when Sunday Vanguard  sought his opinion  on phone to comment on FIFA ‘s judgement passed on Adamu: Three years suspension and fine of 10,000 Swiss francs

His comment: “What reaction do you want to hear from me; to start with, it is very sad. This is a man that has run our sports for close to  18 years. The annoying issue is that he is not the only one that has been doing this, making sure that things work in his way.

“Before now, 95 percent of sports journalists have been supporting him helping him to execute his plans. All because of the money he was giving them. He is not the only one like I said, there are others who are still in this country plotting secretly just that nemesis have not caught up with them.

Adamu’s case is reflective of the nation; it has clearly proven who we are.“Why is EFCC waiting for his return in the first place, why didn’t they investigate him before, why now? Well anything they want to do let them do,” he concluded.
