Following the recent the delisting of the Nigeria from the list of drug traffic nations by the United State of America, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has received a moral boost from German Police for more technical support in the fight against drug trafficking.

This was disclosed by the head of German delegation, Hajo Krahl, who visited the Agency’s headquarters in Lagos, yesterday, as he assured that German police would partner with the NDLEA to curtail the free flow of illegal drugs.

He said: “The relationship between Nigeria and Germany is very cordial and this exercise is very crucial in international drug control.  If the drug war is to be won, we must cooperate internationally.

“Nigeria and Germany have been enjoying good working relationship in the fight against narcotics. The visit is to explore more avenues of cooperation.”

NDLEA Director-General, Otunba Lanre Ipinmisho, who received the German delegation, thanked the German government for the unflinching support and assistance it has rendered to the Agency in ensuring that illicit drugs are effectively checked.

He said that the German Police has made good all the promises they made to the Agency in the past.

Some of such promises according to Ipinmisho is “the recent training programme that three of the Agency’s dog handlers have just undergone in Germany. The officers returned with diverse testimonies.”
