The Nigerian Security and Civl Defence Corps, NSCDC, has expressed its readiness for the 2011 general elections, saying the votes of the electorate would count during the poll.
Accordingly, the agency said it was prepared to provide, ensure and guarantee safety and security of voters, electoral officials and materials from intimidation, coercion, thuggery and violence during the exercise.
NSCDC Commandant-General, Dr. Ade Abolurin, who disclosed this while briefing top management staff of the agency in Abuja yesterday, stressed the need for all state and zonal commanders of the NSCDC to be prepared to deploy necessary security apparatus to checkmate any insurgence of violence which could lead to loss of lives and property during the elections.
