COALITION for Good Governance and Economic Justice in Africa, yesterday, blamed power thirsty individuals in the Presidency for alleged plan to bring in Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, as the next Chairman of Governor Forum.

The group in a statement by its Executive Director, Prince John Mayaki, said this act to bring in Governor Daniel through the back door, called to “question our genuineness and sincerity in the clamour for credible polls in the 2011 general elections, if those suspected to have participated in this ‘rigging’ process succeeds with the imposition of Ogun State governor as the Chairman of the Governor’s Forum.”

According to the statement, “there is a suspected coup by power thirsty individuals in the Presidency, if the denial by Kwara State Governor, Dr. Bukola Saraki and his Edo State counterpart, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole over Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s claim to the Chairmanship of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum is anything to go by.

“The recent melo-drama in the Governor’s Forum negates our democratic tenets and the campaign for credible elections to elect popular and credible representatives through participation in a free and fair contest.”
