UPU urges Okowa to implement reports on Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh crisis

The Chief Joe Omene-led Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, has urged Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State to implement the several committees’ reports on Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh crisis.

In a statement by Chief Omene as President-General, and the National Secretary, Martins Awheyevu, UPU gave the charge during an extended meeting of its NEC, noting that it “regrets and condemns the resumption of fatal hostilities between Aladja and neighbouring Ogbe-Ijoh  communities and expressed its condolences to individuals and families who have lost loved ones.

“We call on parties, their supporters and sponsors to exercise utmost restraint, cease further hostile actions and remember the many years of mutual friendship they had from time immemorial.

“NEC calls on the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, to summon the political will to implement the pending reports of the committees set up in the past on the issue.”
