Alhaji Munzali Dantata, the Director General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), has called for the implementation of the master plan for the tourism industry.
Dantata told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday that the implementation of the master plan had been long over due.
“There is a need to implement the tourism master plan because the Federal Government has invested a lot in that document. “The master plan has been spelt out for both the public and private sectors and there is the need to give it a chance, ” he said.
Dantata said the sector had contributed a lot to the economy in terms of wealth and job creation. “Tourism has come a long way in the past 50 years. It is appreciated as the world’s leading industry which cut across many other sub sectors.
“The impact of tourism is felt all over the world as a generator of economic development and the social well_being of the people,” he added.
Dantata said the full potential of tourism could not be realised without trained manpower and professionalisation of the industry.
