*But says Keshi’s more experienced

Former Confederation of African tennis, CAT, president, Chuka Momoh says former Malian coach, Stephen Keshi and former U-23 handler, Samson Siasia are equally worthy to handle the senior national team, the Super Eagles.

Momoh in an exclusive interview with Vanguard sports said both ex Super Eagles players have proved to the country what they can do if given the opportunity to handle the senior national team, adding that any one among them given the job would turn the country’s football around.

“I think they are both good and for all my international experience and exposure, I happen to believe that Nigeria need an indigenous coach. I believe that all the experiments with foreign coaches have been faulty and I don’t believe that it will work. The important thing is when we have our local coaches, it will definitely work for the country. If they are giving the free hands to operate and give them good treatment, the Super Eagles will shoot back to reckoning,” he said.

“I would like to see both Keshi and Siasia working together. They can work together. I don’t see why Siasia cannot work with Keshi, they are both accomplished coaches in there own rights.”

According to the former CAT president, with the exposure of Keshi as former coach of both Togo and Mali national teams, one cannot over look his experience. He added that Keshi has a stronger personality than Samson Siasia.

“Keshi was a coach of the Flying Eagles, he was also an assistant coach to Shaibu Amodu. He qualified Togo for their first ever World Cup in Germany in 2006, he coached Mali and took them to the Nations Cup in Angola. You see, you can never buy the experience and he has stronger and bigger personality than Siasia who is a fine man and fine coach as well.

“If you give both of them the proper support and the time they will do a fine job but they must be well paid,” Momah explained.
