The meeting convened by a member of the PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Judith Enamuotor, and five leaders of the party in the area, was aimed at  producing a consensus candidate out of the three aspirants for the party from Abraka ahead of the House of Assembly primary election for the constituency.

The aspirants are Blessing Enamuotor, Chief Evance Ivwurie and Joshua Atigogo.

Some of the youths who carried placards said they were protesting what they described as alleged ploy to adopt an anointed candidate for the House of Assembly seat in the area.

One of the leaders, who spoke to Vanguard, explained that though the three aspirants were asked to come alone for the meeting, two of them had stormed the venue with suspected thugs who became unruly and attempted to lynch the lawmaker.

Speaking on his ordeal, Chief Ivwurie said: “The conveners of the meeting had warned that it was a private meeting, hence we should come alone, but I was surprised when I got there and saw scores of suspected thugs at the venue.

“At the end of the meeting, while I tried to gain access to my car, they attacked me and I sustained  injuries on my left wrist while  my wrist watch was stolen in the process.”
