Air Nigeria has been named as the Best Security-Conscious Airline in West  and Central Africa by Security Watch Africa as part of activities to celebrate the 2010 edition of security excellence and patriotism in Africa.

At the presentation ceremony held in Johannesburg, Air Nigeria was presented with a plague for its strict adherence to prescribed aviation safety standards, especially by its constant review and overhaul of its entire process to further enhance security measures across its route network.

The security excellence and patriotism in Africa Award is organized annually by the publishers of Security Watch Africa to celebrate outstanding individuals and corporate organizations who have distinguished themselves  in ensuring compliance with security measures.

Receiving the award on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kinfe Kahssaye, the Acting Head of Security, Mr. Boniface Ashiwhobel, described the award as another well deserved honour to further challenge the airline to maintain and enhance its process as the airline will not rest on its oars.

“Air Nigeria being named as the Best Security Conscious Airline in West and Central Africa is a vote of confidence on our established security processes especially as our operations are carried out in line with prescribed global aviation standards which have endeared us to our customers and we are happy that our efforts have continued to receive global recognitions,” he said.

Air Nigeria has since inception received numerous international and national endorsements and recognition for offering services that are tailored to suit passengers demands.

It will be noted that following the recent acquisition of the airline by Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim, Air Nigeria has received a new lease, enabling it to embark on several turn_around initiatives to position it to effectively meet and exceed the expectations of the Nigerian, African and International travel market.

Recent expansions to new domestic and regional destinations and increased flexibility of timing and frequency on existing routes are also owed to this new burst of life.

From its operational base at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos, Air Nigeria currently operates to Benin City, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Abuja and Sokoto on the domestic routes while it also operates to Brazzaville, Accra, Douala, Dakar, Monrovia, Cotonou, Banjul, Libreville and Abidjan with further plans to extend services to additional West and Central African destinations, Europe, Asia, America and Latin America.
