ASABA—DELTA State chapter chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Mr Itiako Ikpokpo, Thursday frowned at the inability of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC and relevant stakeholders to remit funds to the federation account in the last three months.
Ikpokpo, in a statement made available to newsmen in Asaba, said; “I frown at the consistent none remittance of funds by Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC and relevant stakeholders to the federation account.
“This development has hampered and brought local government administration to its knees”, adding that the Minister of Finance seems incapable of handling NNPC. And as a result in the third month running we have had stalemate in the sharing of FAAC”, lamenting that “It’s an unfortunate situation as the entire local government system is crippled.”
