NDC candidate pledges issue-based campaign in Bomadi

…Promises infrastructure, youth empowerment initiatives

BOMADI — The candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) for Bomadi Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Jerry Agbalakoko Opuofoni, has pledged to focus on issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections, with emphasis on infrastructure development and youth empowerment.

Opuofoni made the pledge on Monday during an interaction with journalists, saying he was consulting constituents and monitoring issues affecting the area to understand their concerns and priorities.

He said his campaign would be guided by the developmental needs of Bomadi and its riverine communities, particularly the infrastructure deficit, youth unemployment and limited access to essential amenities.

The candidate disclosed that his campaign office had been established in Bomadi, adding that he was preparing to engage constituents on his plans for the constituency.

“We are preparing for our campaigns and, as I speak with you, I am engaged in tracking issues to understand the opinions and feedback of constituents, which is an essential task for anyone seeking the people’s mandate,” he said.

Opuofoni acknowledged the efforts of previous representatives, expressing optimism that the NDC could contribute to the development of the constituency.

He identified the establishment of a tertiary institution in Bomadi, scholarships, youth capacity building and empowerment programmes as some of his proposed priorities if elected.

“My priorities will be to advocate for the establishment of a tertiary institution of learning in the constituency, as well as to focus on youth capacity building through scholarships and empowerment initiatives,” he said.

He added that his decision to contest the election was driven by the need to bring government closer to rural communities through advocacy for essential infrastructure and public amenities.

According to him, calls from constituents also influenced his decision to seek election to the state legislature.

Meanwhile, the Clerk of the NDC Campaigns Office, Mercy Pullen, urged women in Bomadi Constituency to support Opuofoni’s candidacy.

Pullen said she believed the candidate had the qualifications and political will to pursue development initiatives capable of improving the lives of residents.

The 2027 election will determine who represents Bomadi Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly for the next legislative term.
