Afrofusion artiste Temisere Jasper Ogheneoruese, popularly known as Jaxper, has drawn inspiration from an unsuccessful attempt to ask a girl out for his new single, Propeller, as he continues to build his music career.
The song, his second release of the year, captures how an experience that did not go as planned can become the starting point for creative expression.
Jaxper, who developed an interest in music from an early age, began his journey singing in a church choir before joining a school band and eventually becoming a professional performing artiste.
His passion for music grew as he watched Nigerian stars Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy showcase their talents on television, inspiring him to pursue his own ambitions in the industry.
Describing his sound as Afrofusion, the singer said his music remains fluid, allowing him to explore different expressions while developing his identity as an artiste.
Interestingly, the idea behind Propeller emerged from a personal experience when he attempted to ask a girl out, only to discover that she was not interested.
Rather than let the moment pass, Jaxper turned the experience into a song, drawing on an everyday situation to create music that reflects his creative instincts.
Beyond making music, the singer acknowledged that getting people to listen to his work remains one of the biggest challenges facing emerging artistes in an industry crowded with talented performers.
He noted that attracting attention and getting listeners to connect with one’s sound can be difficult, particularly for artistes still working to establish their names.
Despite the challenges, Jaxper remains confident about his future and has promised fans more music, exciting collaborations and continued growth.
He expressed optimism about reaching the top of the industry in the coming years, describing his forthcoming releases as part of a bigger ambition to establish himself as a recognised voice in Afrofusion.
For Jaxper, Propeller represents another step in that journey, with the singer hoping to reach more listeners while giving fans a glimpse of the music and creative direction they can expect from him.
