Nigerian engineer and Moniepoint Co-founder, Felix Ike, has joined some of the world’s leading technology executives after emerging as the only African representative on TIME magazine’s inaugural Executives of the Year: Tech and Data list.
Ike, who serves as Chief Technology Officer, CTO, of Moniepoint, was named among 50 technology and data leaders from companies including Netflix, Dell, OpenAI, Anthropic, Shopify, Reddit, CrowdStrike and Duolingo.
TIME said the recognition celebrates executives whose decisions are shaping how major organisations deploy technology, secure their systems and harness data.
The magazine noted that Ike “has helped to establish the business as one of Africa’s leading financial platforms.”
A first-class Computer Science graduate of the University of Lagos, Ike co-founded Moniepoint with Tosin Eniolorunda in 2015 and has overseen the technology infrastructure powering financial services for millions of businesses and individuals.
Reacting, Ike said the recognition demonstrated that Nigerian technology could compete globally.
“This is a deeply significant honour, and one I do not take lightly. But beyond what it means personally, it says something bigger,” he said.
“This shows that Nigerian engineering, built for Nigeria and Africa, can stand on the same stage as Silicon Valley and Wall Street.”
Moniepoint Founder and Group CEO, Tosin Eniolorunda, described the recognition as a proud moment for Nigeria.
“Felix has contributed significantly to building infrastructure that now carries the weight of millions of livelihoods,” he said.
The recognition comes after Moniepoint was named among TIME’s 100 Most Influential Companies in 2025.
