The Rector Cares Foundation, in partnership with Nigeria LNG Limited, NLNG, has launched a community-focused sanitation initiative across selected NLNG host communities in Rivers State.

The 3-month project is designed to improve access to safe sanitation, promote better hygiene, and create healthier learning environments for students and residents.

As part of the partnership, a solar-powered school sanitation facility is currently being built in Amadi-Ama, Port Harcourt. The facility will have separate spaces for boys and girls, including hand washing stations to encourage good hygiene practices. 

A second solar-powered sanitation facility is also underway in Ogbunabali to serve the wider community.  

Together, the two school projects are expected to benefit more than 1,000 students.

In addition to infrastructure, the Foundation will roll out a menstrual hygiene initiative in Finima, Bonny. The program will provide menstrual hygiene education and sanitary pads to over 200 girls, equipping them with the knowledge, confidence, and resources to manage their menstrual health with dignity.
