Indigenes of Sii Community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State have responded to a recent newspaper publication concerning a community member, Mr. Fortune Lelesi Diginee.

In a statement jointly signed by Mr. Kpaedee Felix Samuel, General Secretary of the Voice of Indigenous People of Sii Community, and Hon. Barigbor Kenneth Nwitoh, Youth Leader and former Youth President of the community, the group expressed disagreement with the claims contained in the publication, describing them as misleading.

The statement noted that differing views on community matters should be handled with care to avoid deepening divisions among residents.

The group also highlighted ongoing concerns within the community, calling for constructive engagement and peaceful dialogue among stakeholders to address challenges and promote development.

According to the statement, Mr. Diginee has contributed to community development initiatives, including support for educational infrastructure and programmes. These, it said, include the provision of facilities for the community secondary school and support for teaching in key subject areas.

The group further noted that he has supported efforts aimed at fostering dialogue and participation among community members.

It called for responsible communication and urged that issues affecting the community be addressed through inclusive and peaceful means.

The statement also appealed to indigenes to maintain unity and avoid actions that could disrupt the peace, while encouraging all parties to engage constructively in the interest of the community’s development.
