Nigerian media entrepreneur, Jeremiah Musa, has been honoured at the Forty Under 40 Africa Awards, in recognition of his contributions to media innovation and youth empowerment across the continent.

Musa, popularly known as Jerry, is the founder of The Bit Gazette, a Dubai-based cryptocurrency and Web3 publication that has created opportunities for Nigerian journalists to participate in the global digital economy.

Born in Agbado-Crossing on the outskirts of Lagos, his early life was marked by economic hardship. As a child, he sold sachet water on the streets to support himself while pursuing his education. During his university years, his academic journey nearly stalled when he could not afford less than $100 required for tuition.

A turning point came when a lecturer, Boye Ola, allowed him to sit for his examinations despite outstanding fees, trusting he would settle the balance later. The gesture would go on to shape his commitment to extending opportunities to others facing similar challenges.

Years later, Musa has built The Bit Gazette into a growing international media platform covering cryptocurrency, blockchain innovation and Web3 developments. Through a “Remote-First, Naija-Best” model, he has assembled a distributed team largely made up of Nigerian journalists contributing to global conversations in the digital asset space.

The initiative has opened doors for young writers who previously operated within Nigeria’s local media ecosystem, with several contributors gaining international exposure through the platform.
“Talent exists everywhere; what is often missing is access,” Musa said.

Beyond publishing, his experiences have influenced his efforts to support students facing financial hardship. He has provided assistance to students at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism in Lagos, where he studied, and extended support to struggling students at Pharmatrust College in Accra, Accra.

The award highlights his role in advancing African voices in global journalism, as well as his commitment to youth development.
As The Bit Gazette continues to expand its audience across the Middle East, Europe and North America, Musa expressed hope that the platform will serve as a gateway for more African journalists to shape global narratives.

From humble beginnings on the streets of Lagos to leading an international publication, his story underscores the potential for talent to thrive when given the right opportunities.
He added that his focus remains on ensuring that no student is forced to abandon education due to financial constraints.
