GCC reiterates support for Morocco’s territorial integrity

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has restated its position of support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and stability.

According to a statement from Morocco’s foreign ministry, the position was conveyed by the Secretary-General of the GCC, Jassem Mohammed Al‑Budaiwi, during the 8th Morocco-GCC Joint Ministerial Meeting held Thursday in Manama via videoconference.

The meeting was attended by Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, alongside foreign ministers from GCC member states.

During the meeting, the GCC Secretary-General reiterated the council’s support for Morocco’s security, stability, and territorial integrity. Participating delegations also reaffirmed their backing for Morocco’s position regarding the Sahara issue.

The GCC also expressed support for ongoing efforts led by the United Nations Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy to facilitate negotiations aimed at reaching a peaceful and mutually acceptable solution to the dispute.

The statement noted that the meeting reflected the longstanding relations between Morocco and GCC member states, highlighting continued cooperation on political, economic, and social matters.

The GCC is a regional intergovernmental political and economic union that promotes coordination and cooperation among member states bordering the Persian Gulf.
