Former Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Seriake Dickson, has dumped his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
Dickson, who is at present addressing a world press conference, said that he is a man of conviction and that the PDP at the moment is at Intensive Care Unit, ICU.
According to him, the nation and Nigeria cannot be a one party State.
Also, he expressed sadness over “the declining state of the PDP,” noting that the party had become gravely ill.
“The PDP is sick and presently in the ICU,” he lamented.
He accused some PDP governors of undermining the party by aligning with the All Progressives Congress, APC. This, Dickson said, worsened the party’s crisis and position as a viable opposition platform.
He said it why he decided to chart a new political path by joining the NDC.
After he was formally welcomed into the party by its leadership, Dickson was presented with the official flag of the NDC and issued a membership card bearing the number “001”.
