Senior political stakeholders across party lines have expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, will secure decisive victories in the 2027 general elections, citing what they described as visible development projects and improved governance at both the national and state levels.
The stakeholders made their views known at a strategic meeting organised by the Integrity Group of Nigeria in Asaba, the Delta State capital. The gathering brought together politicians, academics, traditional rulers and party supporters to review progress so far and consolidate support for a second term for both leaders under the “Tinubu and Sheriff 4+4” agenda.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman and Convener of the Integrity Group, Dr Oke Idawene, said the meeting marked an early but critical step towards the 2027 elections. He stressed the need for unity, early planning and effective grassroots mobilisation across Delta State.
“This is the time to sit down, review our progress and plan carefully for 2027,” Idawene said. “Our task is to ensure victory for President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori. The Integrity Group stands firmly behind the Renewed Hope and MORE Agenda.”
He said both leaders had demonstrated strong, people-centred leadership at the federal and state levels, adding that their record in office justified the group’s open endorsement. According to him, members of the Integrity Group are already engaging communities across the state to encourage voter participation and support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A highlight of the meeting was a paper presented by Professor U.N.O. Edewor, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Delta State University, titled “2027: There Is No Vacancy in Asaba Government House and Aso Rock.” Edewor argued that the performance of both administrations had earned them the right to seek another term.
He described the leadership style of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori as grassroots-oriented and focused on long-term development, noting that their policies were aimed at rebuilding the economy and restoring public confidence after years of economic and political challenges.
“The APC at both national and state levels is working to reposition Nigeria,” Edewor said. “The Renewed Hope and MORE Agenda is clear in its goals and is supported by visible projects and investment in people, especially young people and women.”
Other speakers echoed similar sentiments. Felix Ofou said the Integrity Group had established itself as a strong support base for Governor Oborevwori’s administration, noting that its visibility and consistency had helped spread the government’s message across the state. He urged members to intensify efforts at party and voter registration, stressing that political strength depends on active participation.
Dr Reginald Bayoko, former Head of Service and Secretary of the College of Patrons of the Integrity Group, spoke on the importance of integrity and accountability in public life. He commended Idawene’s leadership and encouraged members to lead by example by ensuring they were properly registered to vote.
In a goodwill message, Dame Princess Minnie Igbrude praised members for their commitment and described the Integrity Group as a key pillar of the MORE Agenda. She said Governor Oborevwori’s performance in office had significantly reduced political opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking in her capacity as Coordinator of the Tinubu Touchbearers in Delta State, Igbrude said President Tinubu was laying a solid foundation for long-term national development and urged citizens to remain patient despite prevailing economic pressures.
Further messages of support came from Barrister Fred Majemite and Hon. Ferguson Onwo, who commended the Integrity Group for its sustained political mobilisation. Prince Tony Okobi, Director General of the Okowa Mandate, announced that his organisation had formally merged with the Integrity Group, citing Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to development and peace as the basis for the decision.
Also speaking, His Royal Majesty, Simon Wajutome Odhomo Igbogidi I, the Odio-Ologbo of Irri Kingdom, praised the Integrity Group’s role in political advocacy and commended the Delta State government for visible development and relative peace across the state. The monarch urged residents to remain law-abiding and supportive of both the state and federal governments in the interest of stability and continued development.
