A pro-Tinubu support movement has begun early mobilisation in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 polls, setting the stage for increased political activity in the South-West.

The development came to the fore in Ibadan on Sunday during the commissioning of the PBAT Again 2027 support group office. Speaking at the event, the Convener of the initiative, Kunle Adeleke, said the project was driven by a broader political vision anchored on continuity and national stability.

He stated: “Today is about reinforcing a political idea and a shared commitment to continuity, stability, and progress in Nigeria,” describing the movement as a structured platform for grassroots engagement and coordination.

Adeleke described the campaign as a strategic effort to sustain ongoing reforms, stating that “PBAT Again 2027 is not merely a slogan; it is a deliberate call to consolidate reforms and deepen governance outcomes.”

His remarks come amid increased political activity by opposition figures, including reported moves to form a coalition aimed at challenging the incumbent administration.

Emphasising the need for early preparation and coordination, he said: “Political success in 2027 will not be accidental; it will be the product of deliberate planning, unity of purpose, and effective execution,” adding that consistent engagement with communities and stakeholders would be critical.

He also called for unity within party ranks, warning against internal divisions and underscoring shared responsibility among supporters.

“Our strength will come from cohesion, not division, and our actions must consistently reflect integrity and service,” he said, urging members to align personal ambitions with collective goals.

Highlighting the importance of sustained commitment, Adeleke added: “The road to 2027 and beyond begins now, and it requires consistency, courage, and clarity of purpose.”

Also speaking, a former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Hosea Agboola, said he was aligning with the movement in support of the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as a decision based on his personal conviction and views on national development.

Agboola, a former Senate Chief Whip, expressed his opinion that the PDP had lost ideological direction and internal cohesion, adding that he believes it is not currently positioned to offer a strong alternative for governance.

He said opposition to President Tinubu would not derail the administration’s reforms or development agenda.

“I have taken time to reflect deeply on the state of our politics and governance in Nigeria. What I see today is a leadership that, though facing challenges, is making difficult but necessary decisions for the long-term stability of our country.

“President Tinubu is steering reforms that many may not immediately appreciate, but which may, over time, reposition the economy and strengthen institutions.”

He added: “The PDP, as it stands today, is fragmented and faces internal challenges.

“It is not about personal interest for me; it is about standing on the side of progress, and I believe that progress is better served through constructive engagement with the current administration rather than opposition for opposition’s sake,” he said.

In his remarks, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the party and Senator representing Oyo South, Sharafadeen Alli, said the early mobilisation effort reflects what he described as growing unity within the ruling party in the South-West and a shared commitment to consolidating existing reforms ahead of the 2027 general election.

Alli noted that increasing political engagement at the grassroots level indicates what he views as the party’s preparedness in the region.

“The APC in Oyo State and indeed the South-West is becoming more structured, more focused, and more connected to the people.

“What we are witnessing is not just political activity, but a deliberate effort to deepen party unity and strengthen support for the President’s reform agenda.”

He added: “For us in Oyo State, our priority is continuity of governance. We believe it is important to sustain and build on existing policies.

“The task before us is to ensure that the gains already being recorded at the national level are sustained and expanded for the benefit of all Nigerians,” Alli said.
