ABUJA: EMMANUEL Nwachukwu, caretaker of BFD Travel and Tours, has denied any involvement in the alleged absconding of over 30 Nigerians in Qatar, following the temporary suspensionofthecompany’s operations by the Qatari Ministry of Interior.
Nwachukwu said the clarification was necessary to correct misleading impressions and reassure the public, partners, and regulators of the firm’s commitment to Qatari laws.
He explained that BFD Travel, operating in Qatar for over 15 years, organised a group tour in November 2025 for over 200 visitors from Nigeria. Reports later emerged that more than 30 of the group allegedly absconded, violating visa terms.
“The actions of those who absconded were carried out independently and without the knowledge or authorisation of the company ’s management,” he said, adding that the firm fully complied with all regulatory requirements.
Nwachukwu reaffirmed the company ’s respect for Qatari laws, readiness to cooperate with authorities, and commitment to lawful operations while the investigation continues.
