BIRNIN KEBBI — The Federal Government, in collaboration with the Kebbi State Government, has launched a new empowerment initiative under the Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development Programme (YEIDEP), aimed at supporting young Nigerians with startup capital ranging from ₦300,000 to ₦500,000.
The programme targets youths between the ages of 18 and 35, with the goal of encouraging entrepreneurship, boosting innovation, and promoting self-reliance among young people across the state.
A statement by the Special Adviser Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State on Media and Publicity to the Kebbi State Governor, Yahaya Sarki, quoted the state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, as saying the initiative is designed to improve livelihoods and reduce youth unemployment across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
To ensure accessibility and seamless participation, the state government has established nine free online registration centres strategically located across the state’s local government areas.
Designated Registration Centres: Birnin Kebbi: Birnin Kebbi Local Government Secretariat, Kalgo and Bunza: Kalgo Local Government Secretariat, Argungu and Augie: Argungu Local Government Secretariat, Arewa and Dandi: Dandi Local Government Secretariat, Yauri, Shanga, and Ngaski: Yauri Local Government Secretariat, Koko, Besse, and Maiyama: Maiyama Local Government Secretariat, Zuru, Fakai, and Sakaba: Zuru Local Government Secretariat, Aliero, Gwandu, and Jega: Aliero Local Government Secretariat and Bagudo and Suru: Dakingari Local Government Secretariat.
Yakubu encouraged all eligible and interested indigenes of Kebbi State to seize this opportunity to register and benefit from the initiative.
He emphasized that the support could significantly contribute to their economic stability and the broader development of the state.
According to him, “This is a golden opportunity for young people across Kebbi State to start or scale up their entrepreneurial ventures,” he said. “We urge every eligible youth to take advantage of this programme and contribute meaningfully to the state’s economic growth.”
Registration for the YEIDEP programme is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. across all designated centres.
The programme forms part of broader efforts by the Federal and Kebbi State Governments to empower Nigerian youths and promote inclusive development by equipping them with the necessary financial support to become self-sufficient entrepreneurs.
