Brand Strategist, Sports and FIFA-licensed agent, Dr Drew Uyi, has felicitated with the Super Eagles, over their victory at the 2025 Unity Cup. Nigeria defeated Jamaica 5-4 on penalties on May 31st, 2025, at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, London, after playing 2-2 in regulation time.
The curtain fell on the four-nation tournament in the United Kingdom in the encounter, with fans and millions of viewers across the globe treated to a two-day thrilling display of football excellence in four matches.
Dr Uyi, a Sports and Events Management graduate from the London Metropolitan University, London, and Post graduate degree holder in Marketing from the London University of the ART, expressed delight over the victory of the Nigerian senior national team. He charged the team to sustain the momentum and take the winning mentality into their international friendly game against Russia at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on June 6.
The branding guru and a UK-born Nigerian who has managed and worked with some big names in sports and the entertainment industry, expressed hope that the team will take form into their final four matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, to turn around their challenging fortune so far in the race to reach the next mundial.
More excitedly for Dr Uyi is the unravelling of talents whom he described as the future stars of the Super Eagles. Brentford U-21 youngster Benjamin Fredrick, new kids on the block, Felix Agu and Igoh Ogbu, all made their debuts for Nigeria at the competition, giving a taste of how bright, promising and secured tomorrow is for the team.
The athlete brand educator, however, harped on hard work and team work for the attainment of the overall objectives and greatness of the Super Eagles—warning against complacency ahead of upcoming important matches, He essentially stressed that maintaining focus is crucial for building and sustaining confidence in the team.
Dr Uyi served in the 2025 Unity Cup as a brand ambassador and a member of the Board of Marketing Committee—which was deeply involved in the social media branding efforts and engagement of influencers for the success of the competition. In the committee, he brought to the fore his deep knowledge, experience, connection and expertise into the ecosystem, driving glamour, true sporting spirit and attention of diaspora Africans and Caribbeans to London for the competition.
