Re-allocating shops in Ogheye floating market ‘ll boost economy in Warri North —LG boss, Assembly member

THE chairman of Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr Festus Ani Ashima and the lawmaker representing Warri North Constituency, Mr Fred Martins stormed the ancient city of Ogheye Dumigun community to re-allocate shops in the previously closed Ogheye Floating Market adding that it will improve economic activities in the area.

Ashima and Martins were received by the Olare-Aja of the community (Oldest man) Pa Fregene Oritsetsundede, who expressed fulfillment in the mission of the worthy sons of the Council.

Speaking on the purpose of their visit, the council chairman said: “We are here for the re-opening of the Ultramoden Ogheye Floating market to boost economic activities in the community and to tackle idleness and joblessness. Markets are catalyst for socio economic transformation and provide opportunities as a meeting point for both the high and low.

“The re-opening of this market is historic and shops would be pre-allocated to those who were doing business in the market before now and others who are currently trading in the community irrespective of ethnic or religious background.”

He, however, warned that any idle shop not put into immediate use will be re-allocated to those who are ready to use.Also speaking, the lawmaker representing Warri North State Constituency, Mr Fred Martins described the market project as a major dividend of democracy just as he assured the people of more of government presence.

While appreciating the efforts of government, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Warri North, Mr Victor Dudu and the Olare-Aja and elders in council commended the LG Chairman and the Assembly member for their collaborative efforts.

They noted that the market will help to change the fortunes of the Ogheye community through job creation as a rallying point for commercial activities.
