A member of the House of Representatives, representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency of Ogun State, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, has no fewer than 2,000 of his constituents with
various intervention packages designed to enhance economic self-reliance and productivity.
According to Isiaka, the empowerment programme, which included business support grants of N100,000 each for 1,101 entrepreneurs across his constituency, agricultural support for 177 beneficiaries, among others marked a significant milestone in his human capital development agenda.
Other interventions included distribution of fertilizers and other critical farming inputs to at least 300 farmers to boost crop yields and agricultural productivity, distribution of vocational equipment including sewing machines, IT equipment, and soap-making tools, alongside cash grants for at least 150 young people pursuing skills development.
“Essential business tools including deep freezers, generators, hairdryers, grinding machines, and sewing machines for at least 150 small business owners.
“Mobility enhancement through the provision of 5 tricycles and 25 motorcycles to facilitate transportation, logistics, and delivery services”.
While describing agriculture as the backbone of any economy, and access to essential equipment is crucial for its growth the lawmaker said “to address this need, he has establishing an Agricultural Equipment Management Committee, stressing that the seven-member committee, including representatives from the Council of Baales, the Farmers’ Association, and women’s groups, will oversee the management and maintenance of farm equipment, ensuring availability to local farmers at subsidized rates.
He added that while the gesture is not profit-driven, its primary goal is to sustain these resources for long-term use. “Initially, the committee will manage tools like shredders, palm fruit harvesters, and sprayers, with plans to expand the inventory over time.
“These empowerment items are not handouts but strategic investments in your potential—tools to help you build better futures for yourselves, your families, and our community.
“We carefully selected these interventions to address specific needs and create sustainable economic opportunities”.
He thanked President Bola Tinubu for allocating funds in the 2025 budget for a feasibility and technical viability study on the proposed Agro Processing and Export Free Trade Zone in Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency.
“While we are working to establish this project through legislation, we have also taken the proactive step of preparing the groundwork for its implementation through this study. I am delighted that our forward-thinking President has approved this initiative in the 2025 budget”.
He added that “the strategic location of our constituency, with its vast arable land and proximity to international borders, positions us perfectly to become an agric processing and export powerhouse. This is not just another project; it is the beginning of an economic revolution that will create thousands of jobs, establish value chains, attract investments, and position our constituency as a significant contributor to national food security and foreign exchange earnings”.
He pledged to remain focus on the 15-year development plan. The five pillars of our plan—Education, Healthcare Development, Agriculture Development, Border Development, as well as Youth and Women Empowerment will continue to guide our development initiatives. These priorities align perfectly with President Tinubu’s blueprint, creating a synergy that enhances implementation.
Earlier, a two block of three classrooms each facilitated by the lawmaker at Ansarudeen Primary School 1, Ayetoro, was inaugurated by the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbagbu.
