NerdzFactory Foundation, in partnership with Access Bank, recently concluded the fifth edition of the Youth Transition Program (YTP 5.0), a two-week virtual initiative that equipped over 518 young Nigerians with critical employability and digital skills. Designed to tackle the country’s high unemployment rates, the program provided participants with the tools they need to excel in a competitive job market and seize emerging economic opportunities.

YTP 5.0 delivered comprehensive training through webinars and a virtual bootcamp, focusing on essential workplace skills such as CV writing, LinkedIn optimization, and effective use of digital workspace tools. Participants were also trained in digital marketing and how to leverage online platforms to drive career growth and entrepreneurial success. By promoting economic independence and resilience, the program aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 on quality education and Goal 8 on decent work and economic growth.

Ade Olowojoba, Director of NerdzFactory Foundation, highlighted the program’s significance, stating, “The Youth Transition Program reflects our mission to empower a new generation of leaders with the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly dynamic and digital global economy. Through initiatives like this, we are fostering innovation, resilience, and economic independence among young Nigerians.”

The initiative recorded remarkable success, with participants expressing increased confidence in their abilities to secure employment or launch entrepreneurial ventures. Many reported improved digital literacy, job readiness, and enhanced entrepreneurial skills. However, challenges such as data affordability issues underscored the importance of addressing infrastructural barriers to ensure broader access to similar programs.

YTP 5.0’s focus on skill-building and innovation demonstrated its potential to transform the economic prospects of young Nigerians. By preparing them to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving digital economy, the program not only tackled immediate employability concerns but also positioned participants to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s sustainable development.

Looking forward, NerdzFactory Foundation and Access Bank have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the reach of the Youth Transition Program.
