Taraba State representatives at the ongoing Trade Fair and Exhibition for Mining in Finland have held a side meeting with Oulu Mining School as part of efforts to reposition the State’s economy through diversification.
Amongst the pressing issues discussed at the meeting were plans to invest more in the human capital development of Taraba State with the establishment of a Mining Department in Taraba State University, through the collaborative efforts with Oulu Minning School in Finland.
The State Government’s delegation to this meeting was led by the Vice Chancellor, Taraba state University, Professor Bako. Other dignitaries present at the meeting were; Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Solid Minerals, Mr David Matsai. Others include, the Consultants to Taraba State Government on Education, Mining and Health, April Benjamin and Dawn Communications .
The meeting which was held behind closed doors has been described as a crucial, concrete and collaborative gathering.
The State attendance at this year’s conference and exhibition has also been described as a twin blessing. This is so because it allows for a showcase of the solid minerals and mining potentials of Taraba to the outside world.
The exhibition also aims to promote responsible, efficient and environmentally friendly mining practices in the State.
