The Lagos State government have called on corporate bodies and individuals to collaborate with the government towards the provision of a conducive environment for students in the state.
The appeal was made by Mr Jamiu Toleni Alli-Ballogun, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education at the commissioning of the 18 renovated students & teachers toilets at Ebute-Elefun Senior Secondary School, Sura, Lagos, as part of activities marking ALARHOSPS (Association of Retired Heads of Service & Permanent Secretaries) 11th annual week yesterday.
Alli-Ballogun who commended the members of ALARHOSPS for giving back to the community, stated that “the vision of Lagos State is embedded in you. Lagos state has done enough and is still doing more to provide a conducive learning environment for the students.”
The commissioner who promised to rehabilitate the bungalow in the school said, “we are aware of the needs in public schools and the state governor is passionate about education. In the next few weeks, the government will commission 12 projects located in different districts of the state.
We commend the body for helping the government today and I say a big thank you. This is the type of thing we want, as government can not do it alone, but with collaborative efforts, we can achieve a lot. We need individuals and corporate bodies to partner with us to execute projects in the state.”
Finally, he enjoined the students and the principal to maintain the project so that it will not be messed up.
Earlier in his address, the president of ALARHOSPS, Otunba Nurudeen Ojora-Adejiyan stated that the body has been helping in their little way towards the upliftment of the people in the state. He pointed out that the newly renovated toilets were in bad shape before the intervention and the essence is to improve sanitation and hygiene in the school complex and asked the government to provide the school with light and water so that they can maintain the toilets.
The students commended the body for the good job and asked the government to provide light for the school.
