Gifted songstress, Ugoccie has opened up about her views on relationships, making it clear that she has zero tolerance for infidelity.
When asked whether she could stay with a cheating but wealthy partner, Ugoccie’s response was direct and unwavering.
In an interview with Potpourri she said:”No, I cannot. No one likes to be cheated on, and I live by the rule that says, ‘Do unto others what you wish them to do to you.’ I believe in karma. That thing you don’t want your partner to do to you, don’t do it to them. Simple.”
Aside from her personal stance on relationships, Ugoccie also discussed her musical journey and her collaborations with some of Nigeria’s top female artists, including Yemi Alade and Niniola. She noted that there is no significant difference in working with male or female artistes, as the focus is always on creating good music.
“Personally, I’d say there’s no difference because at the end of the day, the common goal is to make music and enjoy the art while at it,” she explained. “The experience is all that matters, and the fact that these beautiful people thought it was amazing to share their light with me and be a part of my creative life is what makes it special.”
The “Man On Fire” crooner also touched on her identity as the ‘Voice of the East,’ a title she embraces with pride. She sees it as a way to give her music a strong identity, connecting her with her southeastern Nigerian roots while redefining indigenous music.
“Being called the ‘Voice of the East’ does not limit the scope of my music at all. Instead, it gives me a solid identity. I want to be someone my people can identify with and say, ‘She stood up for the women from that region’ and ‘she redefined indigenous music coming from the southeastern part of Nigeria”.
