Bells University of Technology, located in Sango-Ota, Ogun State, recently hosted the Southwest Leadership Summit. The summit brought together student leaders and professionals from across the region and various private schools for a day of insightful discussions and networking.

The event, themed “Role of Leaders in the 21st Century,” was attended by the school’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jeremiah Ojediran, and the Registrar, Mr. Lamidi Tafa. They spoke on the importance of leadership for national development.

The President of Bells University Student Association ,BUSA and the convener of the summit highlighted the significance of the event, stating, “This leadership summit marks a significant milestone, bringing together student leaders from private universities across the southwest region alongside key stakeholders, distinguished leaders, experts, innovators, and enthusiasts to share insights, foster collaborations, inspire innovation, and empower the next generation of leaders. As we commence this summit, let us remember that the collective wisdom and enthusiasm in this room have the power to transform ideas into actions and challenges into opportunities.”

The summit featured a keynote address by the Chairperson of Bells University Parent Forum BUPF, Mrs. Ayo-Ponle Adefowoke, who shared her expertise on leadership, innovation, and the future of the current generation. She emphasized that leadership is a journey that requires dedication and effort to reach the final destination, and that one must constantly seek opportunities. “Leadership is more than just positions; it’s about what you do that’s impactful and will always be referenced even when you leave the position,” she stated.

Panel discussions covered two powerful topics focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including “Building Ethical and Inclusive Leadership for a Sustainable Future” and “Innovative Leadership Approaches for Economic Empowerment and Sustainable Growth.” The panelists included leaders in various fields, and the sessions were impactful.

In addition to the insightful sessions, the summit provided ample opportunities for attendees to network with industry peers and interact with companies offering support in their various sectors, including Stecs, Effico AI, and Munch It.

In her closing remarks, a member of the organising committee, Sanni Samiat, thanked the students, sponsors, the organising committee, and the school management on the success of the summit.  

“Without you all, this summit wouldn’t have been a success. Our goal was to create a platform that fosters collaboration between students from private schools across the southwest region and empowers leaders to drive change and innovation,” she said.
