Dr. Jayne Onwumere, the President and co-founder of PWAN Group, one of Nigeria’s leading real estate companies, recently announced the establishment of the Jayne Onwumere Foundation as part of the group’s 12th-anniversary celebrations.
She explained that the foundation’s goal is to provide free education for 100 children yearly; with 50 enrolled in secondary schools and 50 in universities.
Dr. Onwumere, a visionary leader with a heart for her community, understands the transformative power of education in breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering future generations.
At the launch, Dr. Onwumere spoke passionately about her commitment to making a difference in the lives of Nigerian youth. She emphasized the importance of education in creating opportunities and enabling individuals to take charge of their destinies.
Drawing from her own experiences and observations in her village, Dr. Onwumere highlighted the struggles faced by many families, especially women, due to lack of access to education. She shared stories of women whose businesses crumbled due to unforeseen circumstances, emphasizing the need for a sustainable solution.
Driven by a desire to give back to her community, Dr. Onwumere decided to focus on empowering children through education.
Her foundation will cover the school fees of 100 children, ensuring they have access to quality education in government schools.
Reflecting on her philanthropic journey, she recalled her initial efforts to support women in her village by providing financial assistance for their businesses. However, she realized that true empowerment lies in educating the next generation.
