Rampaging bandits in Kaduna State on Sunday, set fire on 17 houses, killed 12 locals and injured about 9 in the Gindin Dutse Makyali village of Kufana district in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State who has been leading meetings with security forces, condemned the attacks in strong terms and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased.

Uba Sani, according to Samuel Aruwan, the Overseeing Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, has also directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to, as a matter of urgency, assist the affected communities in Kajuru and Igabi LGAs following the razing of some of their houses and valuables.

The Governor further reiterated government’s dedication and commitment in tackling the security challenges experienced across the state.

Although the Police were yet to react to the incident, journalists were told that the bandits attacked the village at about 5am while many locals were still in bed.

A local alleged that the victims lost their lives in the inferno, and 9 others were rushed to hospitals for the  treatment of severe burns.

 According to him, ” 17 houses were burnt during the attack. It lasted for hours. We are appealing to the authorities to deploy more soldiers to the area.”
