Daniel Bwala’s returns to Tinubu

Atiku's aide, Bwala gives reasons he may defect to APC to support Tinubu

By Prisca Sam-Duru

Spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign in 2023, Daniel Bwala, must be feeling the heat from severe bashing from the public following his courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.
Surprisingly, Bwala, a strong critic of the Tinubu administration right from its inception, was there to sing his praise.

Reactions have been trailing his new position, as it has raised further doubt that the crop of politicians in the country are sincerely working to move the country forward. Most work for their own interests.

Reacting to the development, Dr Reuben Abati who spoke on Ojy Okpe’s What’s Trending on Arise News stated, “Should anybody be shocked? This is the standard behaviour of the Nigerian politician. The average politician will tell you that he’s in politics because of what he can gain from it and that eight years will be too long a period to be out of the power loop. So, if you see people hanging around a particular politician, if you don’t win, they give you a little time, allow the matter in court to be settled as the supreme court matter has been settled.

“Now it has suddenly occurred to Bwala as it occurred to Saul on the road to Damascus, the epiphany of Daniel has pushed him to a point where he suddenly realised that it is better to support Tinubu. He’s not even talking about Nigeria, he didn’t say supporting Nigeria; he says he wants to go and support Tinubu. Tomorrow, if Tinubu does not pay him enough attention, he may go to the Labour Party. And he won’t be alone now that the matter of the Supreme Court ruling has been settled. There will be more visitations. And you will be shocked by some of the people you will see there. And of course, Asiwaju Tinubu being a politician will welcome everybody with open hands and that’s why Mr Bayo Onanuga announced on his X account that Daniel Bwala is back to the Asiwaju fold.”

Dr Abati noted further that “It’s only a matter of time before he goes back fully and he declares, and he may even assume a new role as spokesperson, adding that “The only thing Daniel Bwala needs to worry about is that the internet does not forget. That’s why someone brought out his post that only two weeks ago he was still saying nothing will work even if it’s 30 years, nothing will work with Tinubu. In less than two weeks, he has changed his mind saying that president Tinubu is the best thing since the invention of toothpaste. This is standard political behaviour in Nigerian politics; the politics of opportunism, elementary politics.”
