Engr Dan kicks off ‘back to the classroom drive’

German Onoriode Daniel popularly known as ‘Engr Dan’ has unveiled plans to initiate an essential educational project tagged “BACK TO THE CLASSROOM DRIVE”.

Speaking to our correspondent from his base in Capetown, South Africa, Engr. Dan said that the current rate of out of school teenagers and the rapid decline of Nigeria’s education sector motivated his decision to embark on this worthy project.

“A lot of public schools in Delta state and around Nigeria are plagued by low turn out of pupils during registration, lack of teachers and teaching aids, lack of books, desks and other essential learning materials”, German stated.

“So I decided to make this my personal social responsibility project, and I have called and asked for assistance from friends to help me raise funds through donations to procure some needed resources and learning materials,” he added.

Engr Dan said the aim of the ‘Back To The Classroom Drive’ is to provide teaching aids for teachers, educational and learning essentials for at least 100 students in public primary schools in and around Delta State. “

He further said that this is His way of supporting the efforts of the government, and also encouraging these young pupils as well as their teachers. “I want the teachers especially to know that their labour will never be in vain. Education is a key factor in the development of any state or country,” he reiterated.

Daniel went on to say; “it is a pity that most public schools are underfunded and lack basic school amenities, so this initiative is my little way of giving back to my community”. He pointed out that the government alone cannot fund development and so the private sector needs to pick up the slack and help to provide adequate infrastructure, funds where necessary and the enabling environment for learning in schools.

Onoriode called for donations in material resources, cash or kind, from his friends and well meaning Nigerians in support of his drive. “Charity they say begins at home and it is only proper that I support my community and state in any way I can” He stated.

Engr. Dan promised that whatever is realized from the drive will be used to make provision for teaching aids. class desks and essential learning tools like text & exercise books, reading materials and art supplies, and donated to some select public primary schools around Warri and Delta State.
