The Federal Government has said developing the capacities of workers in government ministries, departments, and agencies is key to efficient service delivery.
The Director-General, National Directorate of Employment, Mr Abubakar Fikpo, said this during a three-day workshop for officers of Human Resources and other staff of the agency, in Abuja on Wednesday.
The theme of the workshop is ‘Capacity Building Training on Requisite Work Ethics and Right Attitude for Efficient Service Delivery.’
He said, “At the end of this workshop, officers will be more enriched, acquainted and updated with the Public Service Rules. It is also a path to job satisfaction and will further strengthen Staff productivity for efficient and effective service delivery..”
Fikpo stated that the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari was focused on good performance and the exposure of the federal workforce to contemporary management approaches that will enhance their overall productivity.

“The aim of this workshop is to share experiences, acquire more skills in Human Resource Management and to inspire us to be focused on the mission, vision and core values of the directorate.
“It will also increase competencies in citizens focused service delivery, improve knowledge of how to deliver set service standards and strengthen effective grievance redress mechanism,” he added.
Speaking also, the lead consultant for the training, Arc. Zubairu Usman, however, decried the erosion of moral principles in the civil service.
According to him, the gradual fading of a culture of work ethics in the civil service was one of the identified gaps the capacity building training was staged to address.
