Five years after, Magic Carpet is set to transform Africa’s entertainment by taking it to the next level.

Speaking at an evening of magic & wonder to commemorate the 5th anniversary at IMAX Cinema, Lekki Lagos recently, CEO/ Founder, Magic Carpet Studios, Ferdy Adimefe stated that in the last five years, Magic Carpet has grown an authentic world-class storytelling and filmmaking team across 2D and 3D and built the capacity to compete globally with other big studios and hope to churn out African themed blockbusters in the coming years.

With the theme: “The Century of Africa”, he added that the 21st century is referred to as the century of storytelling. Africa, he observed, has a huge deposit of stories that remain largely unexplored. “The growing demand for African-themed stories has created a huge opportunity for the African animation industry. Our vision is to place Africa at the centre stage of the entertainment world”. He disclosed.

Speaking further, he said “we are a new generation of story tellers and creators reclaiming the narrative of The motherland. We are Magic Carpet Studios. This is the story of the continent thought to be buried in the dust, but now emerges as a phoenix from the ashes. This is the story of a new Africa and those who bear this Messianic calling, to co-create the future, one film at a time. We are here to give every child the awe and wonder of a place yet unseen and a story yet untold. We are here to remind the world of the magic and wonder within every soul”.

Established in 2016, Magic Carpet Studios is determined to bridge the gap, as a 21st-century award-winning, storytelling company, focused on putting African stories on the map globally through animation in a compelling format that the current generation can understand.

Magic Carpet has been recognized locally and internationally for its numerous projects by established award institutions and festivals. The studio is currently in production for Africa’s first 2D feature film, “The Passport of Mallam Ilia.
