A forum of governorship candidates in Akwa Ibom State has lauded the stae’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Mr. Mike Igini, for conducting credible and transparent presidential and National Assembly polls.

The forum, in a communiqué after its meeting in Uyo yesterday, said the election was a milestone in the country’s demo-cratic development.

The forum expressed satisfaction over the display of professionalism and integrity by the REC during the polls, noting that the polls complied with international best practices and globally-accepted standards.

The communiqué by its Chairman, and governorship candidate of Young Progressive Party YPP, Mr. Ekong Eyo, and Secretary and governorship candidate o Green Party of Nigeria, Itoro Bassey, particularly applauded the timely deployment of personnel and materials during the polls.

It read in part: “We note with gladness that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s deployment of its personnel and materials on Election Day was timely, efficient and has received accolades from all relevant stakeholders.”
