ABUJA- THE Accord Party, AP governorship candidate in Rivers State, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on his victory in the Presidential election held on Saturday, describing the victory as a statement of faith in his credibility.
In a statement he personally signed which was made available to journalists in Abuja, Lulu-Briggs said the Accord Party in Rivers State, in conjunction with other political stakeholders mobilised voters in the state for the APC Presidential candidate in the election.
Lulu-Briggs, who recalled that Accord Party had adopted Muhammadu Buhari as its presidential candidate, said it was not a mistake for the party to have sold the candidature of the president to the Rivers people.
He urged the president to continue the good work he was doing in the areas of infrastructural development and prudent management of the nation’s resources.
He listed railway and road rehabilitation, agricultural development, over N500 billion social investment programme, prompt release of budget of the Niger Delta amnesty programme, massive fight against corruption and Boko Haram insurgents, as part of the laudable achievements recorded by the Buhari administration.
According to Lulu-Briggs, both the processes leading to the elections and the actual conduct, were credibly executed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He said the improvement by INEC in the conduct of election and its outcome had shown that Nigeria’s democracy was advancing tremendously.
“I enjoin all the political parties that contested the presidential election, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to accept the outcome of the electoral exercise.
“The exercise was free, fair and credible as admitted by the international observers,”he said.
Lulu-Briggs further urged the Rivers people to come out in mass to also vote for the Accord Party’s candidates in the governorship and State House of Assembly election scheduled for the 9th of March, 2019, saying Rivers State cannot afford to be in the opposition in the centre.
He expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the governorship election the in Rivers, explaining that his campaign train had visited all the hinterlands in the State.
