Young Women’s Christian Association of Nigeria, YWCA, has condemned the incessant killings and bloodbaths in different parts of the country, saying that it is an attempt to put the nation in chaos.

In a statement signed by the National president, Lady Chikwue Ochiagha, condemned the level of  killings and violence in whatever name whether religious or commerce.

According to her, “It is so sad and terrifying that no day passes without reports of killings by gunmen and destruction of communities in the country, adding that the recent attacks in Plateau State resulting in the death of about 200 persons is appalling.

“It is worrisome that there appears to be no evidence of provocationsleading to the attacks and killings and that even if there is provocation of any sort, the offended should use legal means of obtaining justice within the ambit of the laws of the land.

“The insecurity has affected a lot of women and young girls whose empowerment we work for, while widows have inadequate food to eat. They are rendered homeless with the education of girls disrupted.

“Nigerians cannot continue to live in fear and lose sleep when they have a government whose duty it is to protect them,” she said.

She, however, called on the Federal Government to arrest perpetrators and bring them to book so as to restore confidence of Nigerians in their leadership.
