THE Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) which was established in 1952 by Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi (1909–1980) after involvement in a number of other churches, is marking its 66th anniversary with 2018 annual convention beginning on Monday.

The 66th annual convention began on Thursday with a Ministers Conference to prepare the ministers for the Spiritual fiesta, while the programme proper starts Monday and runs till Sunday.
According to a statement from the church yesterday, the week long convention that will attract millions of individuals from across the globe, will be hosted in two places: the first three days will hold at the Old Arena within the Redemption Camp, while the remaining three days will take place at the New Auditorium, in Simawa area of Ogun State.
The theme of this year’s convention as announced earlier by the General Overseer of the Church, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye is: “Dominion.” Events for this year’s convention will include the ordination of Deacons/deaconesses, Assistant pastors and pastors as well as graduation of newly trained officers from the mission’s Bible College to assist the nurturing the growing number of entrants to the church. Adeboye who, earlier in the year, made two profound prophecies about Nigeria, saying that “Significant goliaths will fall,” and “Before the end of the year, there will be rays of hope that all will still be well;” will be assisted by other anointed Men of God.
Pastor Adeboye also emphasized the need for Christians worldwide to turn from their wicked ways and make their ways right with God because, according to him, “the count down to the end of age has started.”
When Saturday Vanguard visited the Redemption Camp venue of the conventions recently, the construction giant, Julius Berger was seen fixing some portions of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to ensure free flow of traffic on the road during the period of the convention.
We also gathered that all logistic arrangements have been perfected for the comfort of those coming from across the globe, with officials of the church assuring participants a worthwhile period in the presence of the Lord, maintaining that security personnel drawn from Lagos and Ogun State commands will be assisted by church volunteers to maintain law and order.
